Description
A simple and quick air fryer version of classic French onion soup with caramelized onions, beef broth, and melted cheese.
Ingredients
- 4 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 tsp sugar
- 4 cups beef broth
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices French bread
- 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Toss onions with butter and sugar in an air fryer-safe dish. Cook for 15 minutes, stirring halfway.
- Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir and cook for 10 more minutes.
- Toast French bread in the air fryer for 3 minutes.
- Divide soup into bowls, top with toasted bread and shredded cheese.
- Place bowls back in the air fryer and cook at 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes until cheese melts.
Notes
- Use sweet onions for better caramelization.
- For a vegetarian version, replace beef broth with vegetable broth.
- Adjust cooking time based on your air fryer model.
