A crispy and tangy Chinese-inspired dish with tender chicken pieces coated in a sweet and citrusy orange sauce.
Ingredients
- 500g boneless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
- 2 green onions, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix cornstarch, flour, salt, and pepper.
- Dip chicken pieces in beaten egg, then coat with the flour mixture.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat and fry chicken until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
- In a separate pan, combine orange juice, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, orange zest, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Toss fried chicken in the orange sauce until evenly coated.
- Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
- Serve hot with steamed rice or noodles.

- For extra crispiness, double-fry the chicken.
- Adjust red pepper flakes to control spiciness.
- Fresh orange juice works best for flavor.
